Just added to my radio archive:
April 6, 2017 Nick Srnicek and Alex Williams, authors of Inventing the Future, on getting beyond folk politics to a world where robots work more and people (supported by a basic income) work less
Here’s an Indiegogo site to raise money for a documentary about the book.
Dear Mr. Henwood,
I agree with your comments at the end of your interview with Profs. Williams and Srnicek. Here’s the question I would like to ask them: Who will slaughter the chickens and cattle? Who will collect the garbage? Who will grow and pick the food?
I’m glad they are addressing these issues though, although it feels sometimes the left is continually reinventing the wheel, so to speak. Didn’t Eleanor Marx and Paul LaFargue write a book on the right to be lazy, for example? I can’t remember exactly, but didn’t all the old socialists, or Marx himself, provide possible solutions to my questions above?
Thanks so much for your radio show. (I miss the Left Business Observer newsletter!)
T.K.
